FAQ – Our answers to the most important questions
You will receive an invitation to MOBIKO and can register with your work email address and a password of your choice. You must then upload proof of your current electricity contract so that we know your individual price per kilowatt hour. We will check your details and approve them.
You can then enter your monthly kilowatt hour consumption when charging your company car at home in the MOBIKO app. We will also check this information and in the following month you will receive a tax-free refund of your submitted and approved costs with your salary.
In exceptional cases, employers set a fixed price for the reimbursement of home charging costs. In this case, you do not need to submit the electricity contract.

MOBIKO uses a so-called Progressive Web App (PWA) instead of a native app, which we traditionally know from the App Store.
The PWA is therefore not downloaded from the App Store. In return, we can carry out updates more quickly and are not dependent on an app store provider.
You can find out how to download the app in the following installation videos (Please note: videos are in German).
Your employer can activate the home charging manager module for you in the MOBIKO platform. To do this, contact your HR-, fleet- or mobility management department. If they add you to the MOBIKO platform, you will then receive an email invitation to use the MOBIKO platform.
MOBIKO uses a PWA, which is a Progressive Web App. This is basically a website with the look and feel of an app on your mobile phone. You will therefore not find our app in the App Store, but at mobile.mobiko.net.
A PWA allows us to carry out releases much faster and more frequently than is the case with classic apps. Here is a video explaining how to install the MOBIKO app:
Dynamic electricity prices can be used in the MOBIKO home charging manager. A monthly updated proof of the previous month’s electricity price is required. Please upload this to MOBIKO in the following month as soon as you have it and enter the next selectable day as the “contract start date”. We will check and approve your details and you can then upload proof of the kWh charged in the previous period and receive your refund. When submitting your kWh charging proof, make sure that you enter a “Date of last charging activity” that is after the “Start date” of your current electricity contract so that the price and kWh quantity match correctly.
Yes, it is possible to use dynamic electricity prices for the MOBIKO home charging manager. A monthly changing electricity price makes it necessary to prove the applicable electricity price each month in order to correctly calculate the reimbursement amount. When using a dynamic electricity price, please upload the cost statement for your electricity price to the MOBIKO app in the following month.
In the MOBIKO app, a new electricity contract can be entered in the home charging manager module in the third tab on the right. The following information is required for this:
- A proof (PDF, screenshot) from which your specified electricity price and the time period can be recognized.
- Enter the price in cents per kWh
- Enter the start date (when to use of this price in MOBIKO)
- End date (optional)
- Additional Comments (optional; e.g. “dynamic electricity price for May 2025”)
The “start date” when submitting the electricity contract refers to the date from which this electricity contract price is to apply in MOBIKO. The earliest possible date that can be selected is tomorrow. This is necessary to ensure a clear distinction from previously existing electricity price information. The date on which you concluded this contract with the electricity provider is not required here.
Special case of dynamic electricity prices:
Please submit your electricity cost statement for your dynamic electricity price in the following month as soon as you receive your statement. In this case, please select the next possible day as the start date.
The amount of charging costs to be reimbursed is calculated in the product from the information on the current electricity price and the amount of kWh charged.
First we need the information about the current electricity price, which is then approved by us. If electricity costs change every month, a new, up-to-date electricity price statement is therefore also required every month.
Once the electricity price has been approved, proof of the amount of kWh charged is submitted in the MOBIKO app. These two pieces of information are then used to calculate the amount to be reimbursed for the home charging costs, which you will receive in the following month via your employer’s salary payment.
On June 5, you receive the cost overview of your dynamic electricity price from your provider for the previous month, i.e. May. You now upload this to MOBIKO and enter the working price in cents per kWh, as well as the “start date” of the next possible day, i.e. the following day, in the example June 6.
Once we have checked your details and approved your electricity contract, you can submit your proof of the amount of electricity charged for your electric company car by the end of the month.
This will ensure that your charging quantity matches your current electricity price.
Important: when submitting the proof of charging, you must set the *date of last charging activity* to a date after the stored start date of the dynamic electricity price so that the electricity price and charging quantity are assigned to each other.
In brief, example process:
- May – charging electric company cars with dynamic electricity price
- June: 05 June (example) Receipt of information about dynamic electricity price costs for May. Immediate submission of the cost statement in the MOBIKO app: Start date: following day, i.e. June 06 (example).
- In the following days: Approval of the electricity price by MOBIKO
- Subsequently: Submission of proof of charging quantity in kWh with *date of last charging activity*: June 06 (example).
- Reimbursement is then made in the following month via salary payment
- Beginning of July: Repeat steps 2 to 4.
Please note: The electricity price and proof of load quantity must be submitted by the end of the following month of your loads. Later submission is not possible. Please take care of this in due time to allow time for checking and any necessary corrections.
Before you can submit your expenses in the MOBIKO home charging manager, you must provide proof of your individual electricity contract. You can do this directly via the “Home charging” tile.
Please upload photos / a scan of your electricity contract showing the following details: Your name, the start date of the contract, a specified end date of the contract if applicable, the working price per kilowatt hour.
If you want to upload a PDF, please save it with Adobe Acrobat or use the ‘Print as PDF’ setting.
Please note: If the contract is not in your name, but in the name of a person living in the same household as you, please provide us with this information in the comments field.
Please note: You can only claim the working price per kilowatt hour. Base-price charges and similar will be rejected.
We will then verify and approve your information so that you can make your submissions after approval.
Please note: There is no need to submit an individual electricity contract if your employer has set a standard electricity price for reimbursement.
Once you have entered your individual electricity contract and it has been approved by us, you can submit your home charging activities.
To do this, click on the PLUS icon on the home screen of the MOBIKO app or go directly to the home charging manager module and click on the PLUS icon to add an expense. First, upload the proof of kWh consumption for your company car for the previous period. For more information, see “What should a home charging receipt look like?”.
You can also upload several proofs if necessary. We then need you to provide us with details of the amount charged in kWh.
MOBIKO can process various formats of home charging records. PDFs, JPGs, PNGs with a size of up to 10 MB can be uploaded. If you want to upload a PDF, please save it with Adobe Acrobat or use the ‘Print as PDF’ setting.
The proof should clearly show your kWh consumption in the past period. This can be, for example, an export of your wallbox (app), which shows the consumption of the past period, or you document the kWh meter readings of your wallbox and provide us with a before-and-after proof and submit the difference in consumption.
Available soon: We are developing dedicated submission routes for the various verification formats, which will make it even easier to record your consumption in MOBIKO.
Please refer to your employer’s mobility/company car policy to find out whether any special requirements of your employer apply, such as whether your wallbox must comply with MID or calibration law (Eichrechtskonformität).
MOBIKO operates on a monthly basis. This means that your employer will receive information about any reimbursements on a monthly basis, which will then be processed in payroll and reimbursed to you with your salary.
You must therefore also submit your proof of home charging costs incurred on a monthly basis. Please note that your expenses are allocated to the months and reimbursed according to the date of submission.
Example:
- You have a wallbox with an app that shows your monthly consumption. On February 2nd, you generate an export for the period January 1st to 31st and submit it on February 2nd. Your expenditure is recorded in February. We check your details and send them to your employer at the beginning of March. You will be reimbursed for your expenses with your March salary.
- You document your electricity meter readings. You take a photo of your electricity meter reading for your wallbox on 5th of February. On February 5th, you submit the two proofs of the electricity meter readings from January 5th and February 5th. Your expenses are recorded in February, are sent to your employer at the beginning of March and you are reimbursed with your March payroll run.
If we reject an issue, we will inform you by email. Each rejection includes a reason for rejection so that you can understand why we had to make this decision. Common reasons for rejections are unreadability of receipts or the submission of costs from an irrelevant period. You have the option of correcting your details and resubmitting the expense.
MOBIKO checks all submissions and approves them if they are compliant. The decisive factor for the approval of home charging expenses is that it is an adequate and comprehensible proof of the costs you have incurred. This includes the legibility of the evidence you submit. In addition, the submission period must match the current period. See also “When do I submit my home charging expenses?”
Once your expense has been approved by us, it will be part of the reimbursement file that we provide to your employer at the beginning of the following month. This reimbursement file will be processed as part of payroll and the reimbursement will be made with the next pay run.
Reimbursement is made via your employer’s payroll department, and you will receive your reimbursement in the month following your submission when your salary is paid.
